Cedar Rapids recently was ranked 23rd Best-Run City in America by WalletHub, a personal finance company that completed an in-depth analysis of the Best- and Worst-Run Cities in America in 2023. To compile its annual list, WalletHub compared cities in the areas of financial stability, education, health, safety, economy, infrastructure, and pollution. Cedar Rapids has maintained top-30 status in this comparison since 2017.
In this recent ranking, 149 of the largest U.S. cities were compared, based on operating efficiency. Analysts constructed a "Quality of Services" score, made up of 36 metrics and grouped into six service categories, which was then measured against each city's per-capita budget.
