Congresswoman Ashley Hinson's Flexibility for Workers Education Act and the Empowering Employer Child and Elder Care Solutions Act have successfully passed the House Education and Workforce Committee. These pieces of legislation, co-led by Hinson, aim to support American workers by offering solutions for employee education and family care.
"I’m thrilled to see these pro-worker, pro-family bills advance through committee," said Congresswoman Hinson, who represents Iowa. She highlighted the basic American dream of growing in one's chosen career while providing for family, stating, "I will continue fighting to expand opportunities for American workers and deliver commonsense solutions to help Iowans and Americans comfortably work and raise a family."
The Flexibility for Workers Education Act allows businesses to offer voluntary opportunities for skill development outside regular work hours. This measure aims to help employees, such as a facilities associate aspiring to become an appliance repair technician, attend employer-sponsored courses outside work hours, enhancing their competitiveness for higher-paying roles.
The Empowering Employer Child and Elder Care Solutions Act is designed to facilitate the provision of childcare and dependent care assistance by employers. It seeks to reduce costs and regulatory hurdles while aligning these benefits with other employer-provided perks. The Act expands access to care for working families without imposing mandates or new federal spending.
Both bills are part of Hinson’s efforts to back pro-family and pro-worker policies, fostering an environment where workers can thrive professionally while balancing family responsibilities.
