At its Feb. 27 meeting, the Lisbon City Council discussed plans for a new pavilion at the city's sports complex.

The City broke ground on a new outdoor sports complex in spring of 2022, three years after purchasing the lot and doing some water sewer infrastructure work on the site. During the meeting, the council reviewed bids by Dutch Brothers Construction on three parts of the project: $14,000 to pour the new floor, $3,300 for new overhead, and building costs of $38,200. The total price for all of the work would be no more than $55,580.

The pavilion "will be on the soccer-field side of the sports complex, not in the middle of the parking lot, just south of there," City administrator Brandon Siggins said. "This is going to be the same exact size and the same exact layout pretty much as the pavilion at the park. The only difference is it's not going to be cinder block."

Siggins added that the pavilion would be constructed of steel and wood.

"Then on the back side of it would be the additional maintenance doors that go all the way across the back," he said.

The council members had budgeted approximately $75,000 to $100,000 for the project, Siggins said. Some additional water sewer work will be done in-house by the City, although later they will have a small electrical project for which the board will solicit bids. The pavilion will be very similar to the one at the city park, and construction of the sports complex is estimated to be finished by late fall.

Asked for references for Dutch Brothers, Public Works director Travis Bagby said the company had done multiple projects for the township and county, which he had reviewed favorably. Council members discussed possible fundraising projects for parts of the park, allowing donors to purchase "family blocks" since the pavilion will need cinder blocks or pavers.

The council approved the proposed contract, adding that construction hopefully will begin in the middle of May and be complete before Sauerkraut Days in mid-August.
