Congresswoman Ashley Hinson has nominated several students from Iowa's Second Congressional District to attend U.S. Service Academies. In her announcement, Hinson expressed her admiration for the students' commitment to serving the country.
"I am honored to nominate these phenomenal young Iowans to our U.S. Service Academies. Their dedication to serving our country is commendable, and I know they will be among the next generation of American patriots who will defend our precious freedoms. I extend my gratitude to them, their families, and wish them all the best as they answer the call to serve our great nation," said Congresswoman Ashley Hinson.
The nominations include students for different academies:
For the United States Air Force Academy: Trenton Abel (Toddville), Brayden Bohnsack (La Porte City), Jacob Doyle (Cedar Rapids), Anders Kittelson (Osage), Nicholaus Lee (Cedar Rapids), Shae Magley (Cedar Falls), Mackenzie McClelland (Grinnell), Austin Nederhoff (Ely), and Amelia Porisch (St. Ansgar).
For the United States Military Academy: Theodore Hartwig (Marion) and Mackenzie McClelland (Grinnell).
For the United States Naval Academy: Trenton Abel (Toddville), Ellie Hance (Palo), Theodore Hartwig (Marion), Nicholaus Lee (Cedar Rapids), and Tommy Phillips (Lansing).
For the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy: Gage Holub from Mount Vernon.
Students must receive a nomination each year to apply to one of five U.S. Service Academies, which include the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, or U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Congresswoman Hinson is responsible for nominating students from Iowa's Second Congressional District.
