Today, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson of Iowa's 2nd District expressed her support for the House passage of the bipartisan Social Security Fairness Act. This legislation aims to secure full Social Security benefits for millions of retired public servants.

"For far too long, public servants like teachers and police officers in Iowa have been unfairly punished through reduced Social Security benefits," said Congresswoman Hinson. "Iowans who dedicate their lives to helping others should not have to worry if they are going to receive their full Social Security benefits when they retire. I fought to bring this bill to the Floor for a vote and proudly supported it to restore full retirement benefits for public servants and help ensure financial security for millions of seniors who have served our communities."

The act will remove provisions that currently reduce Social Security benefits for public servants, specifically addressing the government pension offset and the windfall elimination provision. In September, Hinson signed a bipartisan discharge petition compelling the House to vote on this legislation.
