Coe named Top Performer on Social Mobility in Iowa by U.S. News & World Report

After being listed as a top college in the country based on contributions to the public good by Washington Monthly, Coe College has earned another recognition acknowledging the societal impact of its education.

U.S. News & World Report named Coe as a Top Performer on Social Mobility, ranking the college as the No. 38 liberal arts college in the nation for creating opportunities for its students to elevate their own socioeconomic status. Coe is the highest ranked college or university in Iowa on the Social Mobility list.

U.S. News & World Report also named Coe its No. 142 National Liberal Arts College.

Nationally ranked for accessible professors, internships, career services and alumni network by The Princeton Review, all Kohawks have access to the resources and personal instruction to build connections and a full resume before graduation. The superior services on campus allow students to quickly excel and improve their lives personally and professionally, as well as impact the world around them.

The social mobility ranking specifically measures graduation rates of students who have been awarded federal Pell Grants compared to non-Pell eligible students.

“Education is the best foundation for improving one's life, and that opportunity should be available to everyone,” said Coe College President David Hayes ’93.

Coe provided an average financial aid package of over $51,000 to incoming first-year students this fall.

“I’m proud that the quality of a Coe education is helping students improve their lives in whichever way they see fit — we will always remain committed to assisting our students pursue their dreams. Simultaneously I’m pleased Coe is adding vibrancy within our society and improving the health of our economy by creating these mobility opportunities for our graduates,” Hayes added.
