Marion home prices fall in 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in 2017 in Marion fell by $6,000 while total sales decreased by 6%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through December of 2017, there were 1,025 homes sold, with a median sale price of $158,000 - a 3.7% decrease over the $164,000 median sale price for the previous year. There were 1,091 homes sold in Marion in 2016.

The median sales tax in Marion for 2017 was $3,255. In 2016, the median sales tax was $3,170. This marks an increase of 2.7%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 2.1%.
