Cedar Rapids home prices rise in the second half of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the second half of 2017 in Cedar Rapids rose by $12,025 while total sales increased by 4.7%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From July through December of 2017, there were 1,344 homes sold, with a median sale price of $130,000 - a 10.2% increase over the $117,975 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 1,284 homes sold in Cedar Rapids in the second half of 2016.

The median sales tax in Cedar Rapids for 2017 was $2,557. In 2016, the median sales tax was $2,584. This marks an decrease of 1%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 2%.
