On April 4, 2025, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson honored the commissioning of a new U.S. Navy submarine, the USS Iowa, in a speech on the House Floor. She emphasized the significance of this state-of-the-art, nuclear-powered vessel, noting its reflection of Iowa's strengths, such as its leadership in areas like agriculture, education, and energy production.

Calling attention to the capabilities of the USS Iowa, Hinson stated that it represents both the innovation and strength of naval warfighters. She remarked, "This vessel represents not only the strength and innovation of our naval warfighters, but also the heart and tenacity of Iowans."

Hinson highlighted the strategic role of the USS Iowa in enhancing force readiness globally and noted its potential to act as a deterrent to adversaries. "The USS Iowa will enhance our force readiness around the world and serve as a powerful deterrent," she said.

Furthermore, the Congresswoman expressed gratitude toward the crew members for their service and wished for their safety, saying, "I thank the crew for their service and pray for their continued safety. May she always navigate with Iowa grit and return home safely."

Her remarks concluded with a yielding back to the Speaker following a message of thanks.
