Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, representing Iowa's 2nd District, visited the Cedar Rapids Air Traffic Control Tower at Eastern Iowa Airport. During her visit, she observed the progress of the new deicing facility construction, a project for which she helped secure community funding to provide anti-icing protection for aircraft.
Following recent tragic plane crashes, Hinson expressed sympathy: "My heart is heavy following the recent tragic plane crashes, and Matt and my prayers are with the victims, their loved ones, and our courageous first responders." She highlighted her discussions with air traffic controllers about their daily operations and challenges in maintaining air safety.
Hinson emphasized the importance of supporting air traffic controllers: “I am so grateful for their service as countless lives depend on their work, and Congress must ensure they have the resources and support needed to prevent future tragedies.” She affirmed her commitment to collaborating with aviation experts and legislative colleagues to promote policies enhancing safety for pilots, passengers, and communities.
