Washington, D.C. - On the first anniversary of the October 7th terrorist attacks against Israel, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-02) issued a statement condemning the actions of Hamas. She described the events as "pure evil" and criticized the current administration's approach to Iran and its allies.
"One year ago, the world witnessed pure evil when Hamas ended the ceasefire that was in place and brutally attacked Israel – slaughtering both Israeli and American civilians, and taking others hostage," said Hinson. She attributed part of this aggression to what she calls "The Harris-Biden doctrine of appeasement," which she believes has emboldened Iran and its proxies.
Hinson has been an advocate for legislation supporting Israel following these attacks. She backed several legislative measures aimed at condemning Hamas, ensuring military support for Israel, and freezing Iranian funds. These include:
- The Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act: This act aims to provide military assistance to Israel, replenish U.S. stockpiles, and ensure the safe return of American citizens affected by terrorism.
- The Israel Security Assistance Support Act: This act reaffirms Israel's right to self-defense and obligates the Biden Administration to deliver defense articles and services to Israel.
- H.Res. 409: A resolution condemning acts of terrorism by Hamas against Israelis.
- The No Funds for Iranian Terrorism Act: Legislation intended to freeze $6 billion of Iranian funds released under a 2023 agreement by the Biden Administration.
Hinson emphasized her commitment to standing with Israel and highlighted the importance of returning hostages taken during these attacks.
