Hinson applauds passage of three FY25 house spending bills

Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (R-IA-02) has expressed her approval following the House's passage of three single-subject funding bills for Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25). The approved bills include the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, and the Department of Defense Appropriations Act. To date, the House has passed four out of twelve single-subject appropriations bills for FY25.

"These funding bills cut the Biden Administration's reckless spending while making effective investments in our border and national security. I will continue working to cut funding for the Biden Administration's far-left agenda, safeguard Iowans' taxpayer dollars, and return the spending process to regular order," stated Congresswoman Ashley Hinson.

The House FY25 Homeland Security Appropriations Act includes several legislative measures secured by Rep. Hinson:

- $1,620,000 in requested community project funding for Cedar Rapids to implement redundant power systems at the 3rd Avenue SE Downtown Pump Station along the Cedar River for flood control and mitigation efforts.

- Record-level funding for the construction of the southern border wall and critical border security technology.

- Sustained funding for 22,000 Border Patrol Agents and 50,000 detention beds.

- Savings of $30 million by rejecting funding for electric vehicles and related infrastructure.

- Funding for the U.S. Waterways Commer Cutter program to replace vessels with modern cutters.

- Funding for the Next Generation Warning System to strengthen public safety services through alerts and disaster coverage.

- Funding for the Flood Hazard Mapping and Risk Analysis Program to improve flood mapping across the country.

- Rejection of funding for the Shelter and Services Program.

The House FY25 Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act includes these legislative measures:

- Cuts $7.6 billion (11%) below the FY24 enacted level.

- Prohibits funding related to debts owed to China or international financial institutions providing loans to China.

- Includes funding for the U.S. Agency for Global Media focused on training media professionals worldwide.

- Allocates $3.3 billion in Foreign Military Financing for Israel.

- Prohibits funds from being allocated to various international courts and agencies perceived as adversarial toward Israel.

- Provides full funding for U.S. national security interests in Indo-Pacific regions and countering PRC influence funds.

- Eliminates UN’s regular budget saving $761.6 million.

- Reduces 14 accounts below FY19 levels.

- Prohibits funding related to specific research labs in adversarial nations like China.

The House FY25 Department of Defense Appropriations Act encompasses these legislative priorities:

- Cuts $18 billion from President’s Budget Request redirecting it towards warfighting needs and support services members' families.

- Provides a 4.5% pay raise for all military personnel with an additional 15% increase for junior enlisted service members.

- Cuts over $916 million from President’s Budget Request concerning civilian workforce expenses.

- Supports Pacific Deterrence Initiative enhancing U.S capabilities in Indo-Pacific regions.

- Increases counter-narcotic activities targeting illicit fentanyl flow enhancement efforts by DOD’s role.

- Supports Israel with critical funds directed towards Iron Dome defense systems ensuring no withholding defense articles delivery from U.S side towards Israel is allowed under this bill framework directives aimed at cutting unnecessary initiatives like climate change reducing its budgetary request amounts significantly alongside other diverse equity inclusion initiatives cuts proposed overall accordingly finalized recent passages signified historically significant ongoing debated appropriated finalized legislature contextualized essentially.
