WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (R-IA-02) has taken a firm stand against the rise of anti-Semitic activities on college campuses across the United States. In a recent statement, Hinson emphasized the need to address the issue decisively.
"The anti-Semitism on full display at college campuses is abhorrent," stated Congresswoman Hinson. "Calling for the genocide of Jews is hate speech, and I can’t fathom why many university leaders are so spineless in their refusal to condemn anti-Semitism and shut down these violent mobs."
Hinson's remarks come in the context of her support for the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act, a legislative initiative aimed at combating anti-Semitic behavior in educational settings. The Act, which Hinson voted in favor of, requires the Department of Education to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's definition of anti-Semitism.
"This will provide a consistent basis for the Department of Education, schools, colleges, and universities to police anti-Semitic discrimination and harassment," explained Hinson.
The Congresswoman also criticized some Democratic figures for allegedly fueling anti-Semitic sentiments. "While some Democrats like AOC and Ilhan Omar have egged these rioters on, I will continue to lead with moral clarity to defeat anti-Semitism," Hinson asserted.
The Anti-Semitism Awareness Act, according to Hinson, sends a strong message of solidarity with Jewish students and the global Jewish community. By pushing for legislation that addresses and condemns anti-Semitic actions, Hinson aims to combat the spread of hatred and discrimination.
As incidents of anti-Semitic violence and rhetoric continue to pose a threat on college campuses, Hinson's efforts reflect a commitment to promoting tolerance and safeguarding the rights of all individuals, regardless of their religious background.
