Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-02) and Air Marshal National Council (AMNC) President David Londo engaged in a discussion regarding the No FAMS at the Border Act during a virtual conversation series, "On the Record." The focus of the conversation was on the concerns surrounding the diversion of Federal Air Marshals (FAMS) to the Southern Border by the Biden Administration.

During the discussion, AMNC President Londo expressed the safety concerns arising from the diversion of FAMS to administrative duties at the Southern Border, leaving commercial flights without adequate security. Londo emphasized the impact of pulling air marshals from flights, stating, "You have to remember for every one air marshal we pull out of the sky, that's a flight uncovered. That's a flight that Americans are taking during the holiday season, during this Easter season, that are completely uncovered. It's unbelievable."

Furthermore, Londo highlighted the support of air marshals for Representative Hinson and the No FAMS at the Border Act, stating, "Our air marshals have had enough of it, to be honest with you. Our air marshals are so supportive of you, Representative Hinson, and this bill."

In response, Hinson underscored the importance of keeping Federal Air Marshals in the air to fulfill their duties, stating, "We want to prohibit the administration from deploying you all to the border. You should be in the air doing your job unless Secretary Mayorkas is actually willing to certify that the situation at our southern border is indeed a crisis – which they have yet to actually acknowledge."

The conversation between Hinson and Londo shed light on the critical need to address the shortage of Federal Air Marshals and ensure the security of commercial flights. The No FAMS at the Border Act aims to prioritize the presence of air marshals in the sky, emphasizing the significance of their role in safeguarding air travel.
