Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (R-IA-02) embarked on her 22 County Tour to shed light on the impacts of the border crisis in Iowa. During her visits in Worth, Mitchell, and Winneshiek Counties, Hinson addressed the pressing issue that has been resonating with Iowans.
"The crisis at our Southern Border is the top issue I hear about from Iowans. While Biden continues to ignore this self-made crisis, I went straight to the Iowans on the frontlines to hear more about the dangers the open border poses to our communities. For example, cartel-connected drug cases in Iowa have tripled since President Biden took office. I will continue working every single day to secure our border, prevent deadly drugs from entering Iowa, and support our law enforcement officers as they work tirelessly to keep us safe," stated Congresswoman Ashley Hinson.
During her tour, Hinson met with various representatives and law enforcement agencies to understand the challenges faced as a result of the border crisis. She engaged with representatives from the Worth County Sheriff's Office, Worth County Board of Supervisors, and Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation to learn about their efforts in combating increased drug activity and human trafficking in rural Iowa stemming from the border situation.
Additionally, Hinson visited the Osage Police Department, where she was informed about the influx of deadly drugs, particularly meth, entering Iowa from the Southern Border. Furthermore, in a meeting with the Iowa Narcotic Officers Association, it was revealed that cartel-connected drug cases in Iowa have significantly increased since President Biden assumed office.
Hinson's proactive approach in addressing the impacts of the border crisis in Iowa reflects her commitment to safeguarding the state and its communities from the threats posed by illegal activities stemming from the Southern Border.
