WASHINGTON – Rep. Ashley Hinson (IA-02) passionately expressed her support for the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act during a recent address on the floor. Hinson emphasized the necessity of the bill, which aims to compel TikTok to sever ties with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) or face losing American users.

In her speech, Hinson highlighted the urgency of the situation by pointing out TikTok's deceptive actions following the introduction of the bill. She stated, "The day after we introduced our bill, TikTok went into panic mode. They lied to their users saying Congress was going to 'ban' TikTok, and prompted young kids to call their representatives."

Drawing attention to the potential risks posed by foreign-controlled applications like TikTok, Hinson underscored the importance of safeguarding national security and cybersecurity. She warned of hypothetical scenarios, such as interference in elections, to stress the critical need for action.

Hinson's impassioned plea concluded with a resolute message directed at the CCP, asserting, "Today, we are sending a message to the CCP that we are going to deflate the 140 million spy balloons they’ve installed on American phones. We are going to protect our kids, our national security, and our cybersecurity."
