Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-02) issued a statement regarding the cyber outage that occurred on February 23, 2024. Hinson highlighted concerns over the Chinese Communist Party's activities in hacking critical systems in the U.S.

"We are still determining the cause of today's widespread cyber outage that impacted many Iowans and Americans. As we learn more, this incident should serve as a wake-up call that our foreign adversaries, including the Chinese Communist Party, are actively working to hack into U.S. water systems, electric grids, and other critical infrastructure with the goal of sowing mass chaos and undermining our security. It is critical we work in a bipartisan manner to ensure we aren't caught flat-footed and are ready to deter any future cyber attacks from bad actors across the globe." - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson
