Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson has released a video recapping her work for Iowa's Second Congressional District in 2023. In the video, Hinson reflects on the accomplishments made for Iowans throughout the year.

Hinson emphasizes her commitment to meeting with constituents and understanding their challenges and successes. She states, "I’ve been to all 22 counties in Iowa’s Second Congressional District at least four times this year, meeting with families, veterans, small businesses, and farmers to hear about their challenges and their successes, and learn how I can help."

Transparency and accountability are core values for Hinson, which is why she held numerous town halls to directly hear from the people she represents. She explains, "Transparency and accountability are at the heart of what I do, which is why I’ve held 14 in person town halls and 8 virtual town halls this year to hear directly from you."

Throughout the year, Hinson introduced several pieces of legislation aimed at addressing the needs of Iowans. These include the After Hours Child Care Act, the Maternal and Child Health Stillbirth Prevention Act, the EATS Act, and the REAL Trucking Act. She highlights her dedication to improving the quality of life for Iowa veterans by elevating the conversation around veterans' mental health care and advocating for easier travel for veterans with service dogs.

While many of her efforts in Congress are bipartisan, Hinson also holds the Biden administration accountable and pushes back on policies she believes are wrong. She shares, "While many of my efforts in Congress are bipartisan, I have also held the Biden Administration accountable and pushed back on policies that are just plain wrong."

As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Hinson has been dedicated to slashing reckless spending while delivering investments for her district. She secured a $1.5 million grant for Dubuque to help restore daily commercial air service. Additionally, Hinson has been working to "drain the swamp" through her Make Washington Work Again package, which includes measures to bring bureaucrats back into the office, relocate agency headquarters, and enact a federal lobbying ban.

Hinson's team has also been instrumental in delivering casework wins for Iowans. They have solved 3,481 cases, including helping a small business obtain an IRS refund of over $1,000,000 and recovering missing Social Security benefits. Hinson's commitment to transparency and accessibility is evident through her 14 in-person town halls, eight virtual town halls, and regular press calls with the Iowa media.

Looking ahead to the future, Hinson expresses her determination to continue making D.C. run more like Iowa and enacting policies that benefit rural communities, improve safety and security for Iowa families, and protect taxpayers. She concludes, "I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together in 2023, and I can’t wait to build on these successes with you in the new year."

Throughout the year, Hinson has championed Iowans' priorities in Congress, holding the Biden administration accountable while finding common ground to deliver for Iowa. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, she has ensured that Iowa's priorities were funded while slashing funding for what she refers to as the "woke Biden agenda." Additionally, as a member of the House Select Committee on Competition with China, Hinson has been working across the aisle to develop strategies to counter China's aggressive intellectual property theft and efforts to undermine Iowa agriculture.

In total, Hinson introduced 24 bills and co-sponsored 173 bills, 85 of which are bipartisan. Her dedication to serving the people of Iowa's Second Congressional District is evident in her tireless efforts to address their needs and concerns.
