Washington, D.C. -  Rep. Ashley Hinson (IA-02) joined the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Chairman Mike Gallagher (WI-08) and Small Business Committee Chairman Roger Williams (TX-25) in sending a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland urging the Department of Justice take action to protect American small businesses from the CCP's aggressive intellectual property theft.

In the letter, lawmakers wrote: "The Commission on the Theft of American Intellectual Property found that Chinese IP theft costs the United States economy $600 billion annually and has a major effect on American small businesses. Small businesses play a crucial role in driving American innovation and advancing our economic and national security interests. Ensuring the safety of American small businesses from IP-related crimes is crucial, and we urge the U.S. Department of Justice to utilize all tools and capabilities at its disposal. Therefore, we respectfully request information regarding the Department's efforts in addressing this critical matter."
