Ushers Ferry Historic Village Celebrates 50th Anniversary

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – Ushers Ferry Historic Village is 50 years old this year! As part of the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival, on Saturday, July 1, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the village located at 5925 Seminole Valley Trail NE, is celebrating this milestone, and looking back on its history with many old friends from past events including the Hawk A Model A Club, Iowa Brass Band, and Old West Reenactors (Hole in the Sock Gang and the Red Cedar Regulators). The public is invited to come and share some of their favorite memories of Ushers Ferry and contribute to the continuing story. Admission is $5 per person, no charge for ages five and under.

Old West performances by “The Hole in the Sock Gang” will be held at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. The Pie Auction will take place at 3 p.m., and the Iowa Brass Band concert will play from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Other activities will be available including games, a bounce house, historic crafts and skills demonstrations, a pie auction, and more! The saloon will be open for business with cold, old-time sodas for sale. Food may be purchased on the grounds courtesy of Johnson Avenue Hy-Vee, and Bass Farms will be selling local ice cream.
