On March 8, 2023, Mayor Nick AbouAssaly delivered the 29th annual State of the City address for Marion. It recapped a year punctuated by the completion of several major public and private investments in the community and considerable progress on several others.

The overarching theme highlighted the ways that we are Delivering on Our Promise to residents and the business community.

The mayor spoke of the ways that Marion is investing quality of life amenities and working to provide residents with amazing opportunities. He shared how City leaders are adding value through growth and development and finding ways to embrace that growth while preserving our city’s history. And, as he noted, we're finding success because we are laser-focused on making Marion a place that people want to be.

As the Mayor said in his closing remarks, “We’ve seen a lot of change, but the most impactful change is the attitude and outlook of the community, which now believes more in its own potential. This is the fuel that powers our trajectory…Now is our chance to be bold and visionary; now is our chance to do it the right way; now is our chance to maximize and pursue the best in everything we do.”

If you weren’t able to attend, a full recording will be available in a couple of weeks.
