Marion to host Iowa Salt Applicator Leadership Training on November 17

Excessive salt application is one of the biggest sources of pollution to our rivers and streams in urban areas, and having well informed salt applicators is one of the easiest and most efficient ways to protect our water.

The City of Marion will be hosting the Iowa Salt Applicator Leadership Training (I-SALT) on Nov. 17, 2022, at the Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center (4500 N. 10th Street) from 8 a.m.-noon. This training is intended for contractors, city staff, and commercial retailers that conduct snow removal and apply salt as a deicer. Topics covered will include optimal use of salt application equipment, salt storage and handling, and weather/road condition monitoring.
