The Marion Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Lexi Matthews as the new director for the Marion Arts Festival.
Matthews comes to the Marion Arts Festival with over 10 years of large-scale event operations. She has worked in a range of cultural events across the nation from Super Bowl Live to a three-day yoga festival. Currently she is a co-owner of Uptown Coffee Company in Marion.
“We are very excited to be working with Lexi as the new Director of the Marion Arts Festival,” said Jill Ackerman, Marion Chamber president. “Lexi was born and raised in the area and has a business in Uptown Marion. She has a vested interest in making sure the Marion Arts Festival maintains its reputation for featuring high quality artists from across the nation. Lexi’s extensive background in festival and event planning, along with her enthusiasm for the arts and high energy will serve the Marion community well.”
“I am thrilled to accept the position as the new Director of the Marion Arts Festival,” said Matthews. “It is a cornerstone event in the community and one I grew up attending. With all of the growth we have seen in Uptown Marion these past few years, I am excited to bring this festival to life with a fresh perspective while building on all the festival and the community has to offer.”
As Marion Arts Festival Director, Matthews will be responsible for leading the one-day festival, jurying high quality artists, securing sponsorships, and managing day-to-day operations.
Matthews received her BA in Journalism and Mass Communications with certificates in Philanthropy and Fundraising Communication and Entrepreneurial Management from the University of Iowa. She resides in Marion.

Founded in 1992 and held the third Saturday of each May, the Marion Arts Festival offers art of exceptional quality, dishing up a singular and highly anticipated event. Consistently ranked in the top tier of fine art events nationwide, the MAF has been named as being among the Top 25 festivals in the country, as the #1 show featuring 100 artists or fewer, and as the best one-day event in the nation.
