State of the City Recording Now Available

On March 10, 2022, Mayor Nick AbouAssaly delivered the 28th annual State of the City address for Marion. It recapped a year that was marked by significant progress and forward momentum even as the City continued its response to the COVID-19 public health crisis and the effects of the 2020 derecho. A full recording of the event is now available.

The mayor highlighted progress that is anchored in a high standard of excellence in serving Marion’s residents and giving them a quality of life that is unequaled in our state. He also noted that progress on the economic development front is visible, the momentum is palpable and the potential for success is hard to resist.

In the 2021 community survey administered by Polco and the National Research Center, more than 9 out of 10 residents said Marion is either good or excellent as a place to live; more than 9 out of 10 residents said Marion is a good or excellent place to raise children and more than 9 out of 10 residents said they’d recommend living in Marion to a friend.
