Linn County - IA issued the following announcement on November 18.
The recount for the election of the City of Fairfax Mayor is scheduled to begin Monday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m. in the lower level of the Linn County Jean Oxley Public Service Center located at 935 2nd St. SW, Cedar Rapids. This recount was requested by mayoral candidate Jo Ann Beer after the election canvass showed Beer with 373 votes and mayoral incumbent Bernie Frieden with 377 votes. The deadline to complete the recount is Nov. 27, 2021.
Recounts are open for public viewing per Iowa Code 721-26.106. Observers may watch and listen. Observers may not participate in or interfere with the recount. The number of observers may be limited if space constraints are exceeded. If observing, masks are required in County-owned buildings.
