Public Test of Voting Equipment on October 6

Vote

Linn County - IA issued the following announcement.

Public Test of Voting Equipment

Date: October 6, 2021

Time: 9:00 AM

Location: 823 3rd St SW and 935 2nd St SW in Cedar Rapids

Before each election, Linn County tests its voting equipment for accuracy. A "test deck" of ballots is marked in a systematic way so elections staff know what the optical scan machine totals for each position on the ballot should be. That test deck is then run through each machine that will be used on Election Day and each machine that is used to count absentee ballots to be sure each one is scanning correctly. Linn County also tests its ADA accessible touch screen ballot marking machines, which are designed for voters who have difficulty reading and/or marking a paper ballot.

The public is invited to observe the testing of the voting equipment that will be used in Linn County in the upcoming November election. The testing will begin Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021 at 9 a.m. at 823 3rd St SW, Cedar Rapids and the lower level of the Linn County Public Service Center, 935 2nd St SW, Cedar Rapids.

For additional information about voting equipment testing, contact Linn County Election Services at 319-892-5300, ext. 1 or email Elections staff.
