City of Cedar Rapids issued the following announcement on July 16.

Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control has dogs and cats dreaming of the holiday season. Little do they know that Christmas is coming early! From July 17-30, 2021, you can find the pet of your dreams and pay just a fraction of the normal adoption fee.  Cat and dog adoptions are just $50.00.  Adoption fees include:

• Spay or neuter
• Initial vaccinations
• Dewormer
• Flea/tick treatment
• Microchip

Currently, there are construction improvements ongoing around the front entrance and Animal Care and Control staff want to keep guests safe.  By calling (319) 286-5993 and scheduling an appointment, Animal Care and Control staff can meet with those wishing to adopt, surrender, or drop off a stray animal and escort them safely to the appropriate area of the building.

Those seeking to adopt an animal are also encouraged to compete an adoption application prior to arrival to help facilitate the process. Adoption applications are available at www.cedar-rapids.org/animal.

Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control is located at 7241 Washington View Parkway SW on the Kirkwood Community College campus. Office hours are Monday through Saturday from Noon to 5:00 p.m.
