City of Kalona issued the following announcement.
As of July 16th, 2021, the Washington County Health Department has lifted the Drinking Water Health Advisory for the City of Kalona.
Water Sample results have been under the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) short-term health advisory level of 0.3mg/L for 5 + days.
The City of Kalona is continuing to work with companies for cleaning and replacing the media in the filters.
Fire hydrants are scheduled to be flushed on July 28th through July 30th. Work will start at 5:00 am and end at 4:00 pm. During these days, you may experience low or no water pressure and water discoloration. Flushing hydrants will help reduce the spotty cloudiness you may see in your water.
This notice will be posted on the City of Kalona’s website (www.cityofkalona.org), Facebook, and another notice will be sent to each resident who receives a water bill.
