The City of Cedar Rapids is seeking public input for an independent Citizen Review Board (CRB).
The purpose of the CRB is to pursue changes in current law enforcement practices that would better reflect the standards, values and needs of those to be served. There are about 150 such bodies nationwide, the city’s website points out.
Cedar Rapids officials have made it a goal to marshal up support as the CRB is being developed.
Citizens are encouraged to complete a short 10-question survey.
They will be asked about their interactions with the Cedar Rapids Police Department and their thoughts on the city’s CRB.
“The Cedar Rapids City Council has committed to the establishment of a Citizen Review Board (CRB) to ensure fair and professional law enforcement that is responsive to community needs,” the survey’s introduction reads.
The survey is available until Monday, Aug. 31.
