The Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department has teamed up with multiple community partners to distribute school supplies and backpacks at Rollin’ Recmobile park during the week of August 10, according to a city press release.
Due to the increasing demand, the event will be held instead of the usual Back to School Bash that the department hosted annually at the McGrath Amphitheatre. The first 50 children will receive supplies at each stop.
Students will receive backpacks and other necessary supplies while stocks last. Parents can get more information about the times and locations of each stop by visiting www.cityofcr.com/crrecmobile.
The effort is comprised of several local school-related campaigns with the aim to help parents provide supplies for either in-person or home instruction when schools reopen.
The project is sponsored by Cedar Rapids Hy-Vee locations, SOKO Outfitters and CBS Channel 2 and Fox 28. These sponsors are supplying school supplies with the help of the Parks and Recreation Department.
