The Complete Count Committee of Linn County reminds all residents that it isn't too late to complete the 2020 Census.
However, the deadline is on Oct. 31. All numbers must be in by that date in order to be counted. The U.S. census is held once every decade. The reason for the census is so the government can get an accurate count of all people living in the nation. The census also determines how much funding is needed for resources and Congress.
Communities benefit the most when the census includes everyone in a district. When the census numbers are accurate, it helps the community gets its share of the more than $675 billion per year. The federal funds are spent on the operation of schools, hospitals, roads and public works.
Communities that are undercounted miss out on the full benefits of the funds given by the U.S. government.
