Cedar Rapids residents are being urged to practice social distancing as the number of coronavirus cases in the nation continues to rise every day.
“The safety and well-being of residents is our top priority,” Cedar Rapids City Manager Jeff Pomeranz said in a KCRG article. "I encourage residents to make good decisions to help prevent spread of the virus in our community.”
Social distancing involves avoiding close contact with others and staying home if you’re sick. The CDC advises individuals to keep at least six feet of distance from one another.
“We’re encouraging all Cedar Rapids residents, especially our senior citizens and those with underlying health conditions, to think carefully about attending events and large gatherings,” Cedar Rapids Mayor Brad Hart said in the article.
There have been 68 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Iowa, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health. Nationwide there have been more than 15,000 confirmed cases.
