City of Cedar Rapids issued the following announcement on Sept. 26
Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation is offering a new tour for adults ages 21 and up on Saturday, October 12. The Bootleggers & Bandits tour will get participants off the interstate and onto the backroads to visit the scene of the shoot-out that led to the demise of Bonnie and Clyde. They will tour the Templeton Rye Distillery Museum, home of Al Capone’s favorite whiskey; ride home on the Lincoln Highway, a popular route for bootleggers and gangsters on the run; and have lunch at The Still. The van departs from Ushers Ferry Historic Village, 5925 Seminole Valley Trail NE, at 8:00 a.m. and will return at 5:30 p.m.
Advance registration is required for this tour. The cost is $39 for residents and $46 for non-residents. The fee does not include lunch. Call 319-286-5566 or go to www.crrec.org to register for program #214803-01.
