City of Anamosa issued the following announcement on September 19.
Members of the community gathered in Monticello for the first annual joint tractor ride between the Monticello, Anamosa and Midland FFAs.
The route both started and ended at the Great Jones County Fairgrounds in Monticello, before passing through Anamosa, with a little help from a police escort, had a quick stop in Martelle for lunch, passed through Olin and stopped by the Amber Community Club.
The groups came together to raise funds for families or community organizations in mind.
“We really wanted to do something powerful and meaningful to our communities,” Anamosa FFA Sponsor Chelsea Arsendorf said. “We really enjoy the farming community and appreciate you guys and your support.
Jamie Christiansen with Midland also thanked those in attendance for coming and encouraged feedback for what could be done better the next time around. Arsendorf said they took the comments received and already have some ideas for how the event can be better for next year. For the first time out, the Anamosa sponsor thought things went very well.
Each year, the FFAs will select a couple of causes or families to support with the proceeds from the event. This year, all proceeds for the event went to the Becker and Andresen families.
